This was the last day of the Celebration of Light: see Lumière, a Celebration of Light (27 December 2009 - 23 January 2010). The festive lighting was distributed around the grounds and in the Glasshouse.
Wisley was snow covered, after the several days of heavy snow we had, and only a couple of paths had been cleared.
The Butterflies in the Glasshouse (16 January – 28 February 2010) display started yesterday: we did not visit the Glasshouse today on account of the vast crowds passing through the butterfly area. Another time when it is quieter.
The first snowdrops are appearing - but early days yet.
The Glasshouse pond is still semi-frozen.
The river was very high and fast flowing.
The path was once again submerged in parts.
The Butterflies in the Glasshouse (16 January – 28 February 2010) display continues, and this week we did visit the Glasshouse. Photos of butterflies below.
The river was high, although much reduced from last week, but still fast flowing.
It was so cold outside (0-2C) that the Glasshouse was full of people looking at the butterflies - so we abandoned the Glasshouse to return to the less crowded gardens.
Walking on water - at least the ducks are!
