Globe Theatre, Bankside, London, October 2008
The Globe Theatre is a faithful reconstruction of the open-air playhouse designed in 1599, where Shakespeare worked and for which he wrote many of his greatest plays. The theatre season runs from April to October with productions of the work of Shakespeare, his contemporaries and modern authors. The site includes Theatre, Education and Exhibition departments. For more details visit Shakespeare's Globe on-line and the Theatre on London's Bankside.
The following are mobile phone pictures and therefore do not really do justice to the place.
Despite being covered in scaffolding (the thatch roof is being replaced) it was well worth the visit.
