Note about AVI Movies

The AVI movies on this site have been converted from the format saved on a Sony DVD Camcorder by iSofter DVDtoAVI software.
The AVI files have been tested and found to work (audio and video) on the following systems:

However, if when trying to run the AVI files you only get audio but no video and receive the following error message:

error message C00D10D1 while using Windows Media Player Codec is missing.
Windows Media Player cannot play the file (or cannot play either the audio or video portion of the file)
because the DivX MPEG-4 (DX50) codec is not installed on your computer.
The missing codec might be available to download from the Internet. To search for the
DivX MPEG-4 (DX50) codec, go to the WMPlugins.com Web site.

then you will need to download the missing Codec as advised. Divx 5.0, or later, appears to be essential to play the video. This is problem I encountered on a variety of PCs (several W2K PCs (WMP9) and a WinXPSP2 (WMP10) PC. Other WinXP PCs were already able to cope with the AVI files.

Divx 5.0 can be downloaded from http://www.wmplugins.com/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemID=612 which also leads to http://www.divxmovies.com/codec/. The latest DivX codec available on the download site is DivX codec v6.6.1 for Windows XP/2K (20.6M) and this provides a working application with both audio and video. When you've completed the installation of the video codec, you use the DivX player, or any other media player such as WMP, to play DivX movies and videos (DIVX, DIV3, DIV4, DX50).
